Jack and the Beanstalk is a piece of Traditional literature that was written by Richard Walker and Niamh Sharkey. This book is targeted towards the audience of 9-12 year old children. This book is about the story of jack selling his cow to a strange man to get beans. His mother was upset with him because he was supposed to sell the cow so they could eat because they did not have anymore food. His mother threw the beans out the window and overnight to grow a giant beanstalk. What was up the stalk was even stranger. There lived a giant, an old woman, a goose that produced golden eggs, and a golden harp in a big castle in the sky. Finding a sack of money, Jack lowered down the sack down the stalk with rope. The goose then asked to accompany him in escaping along with the old woman. He also grabbed the golden harp and set out to escape. The giant heard them trying to escape and went after them. Jack used the rope to sling the giant into the sky once he made it down the stalk. The giant disappeared into the sky and Jack, His mom, the old woman, the golden egg producing goose, and the golden harp lived happily after.
