Wonder
Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, is an outstanding realistic contemporary fiction book. This book has been awarded many times over. Some awards would be consisted of Bluebonnet award, Maine Student Book Award, Vermont's Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award, Mark Twain Award, Hawaii's Nene Award, and Junior Young Reader's Choice Award. Written for eight to twelve years old, it is quite evident in the wording but also the emotional pull. This book is about a home schooled fifth grader named August (Auggie) Pullman with a facial deformity. Because of his face deformity, his mother decided to home school hum. His parents decided to put him into public school when he reached the fifth grade. Learning to guide school already is tough but when it comes to the point of being bullied for looking different it is even harder. Making friends and navigating life is overall hard for Auggie. Making friends and navigating life is tough for him. The end of the book is ended with the infamous quote, "You really are a wonder Auggie. You are a wonder." She is so proud of how Auggie has navigated through middle school and went through a year of hardships.
