Ancient Skyscrapers: The Native American Pueblos
Ancient Skyscrapers: The Native American Pueblos is a book by Sherry Paul. The genre of this book is nonfiction and is about the character, Spotted Deer, and his life in the Pueblos. This book is ranged for 3rd to 4th grade age students. Spotted deer's job was to protect and take care of the tribe. Travelling along the walls of the homes, he ran to the tribe elders to warn them about enemies coming. Throughout the story Spotted Deer remembers the time before he was alive and how it was before. With real photographs of artifacts we see Spotted Deer and the pueblos run away from their apachu. At the end of the story, Victor, a young boy recalls the story of his grandfathers Spotted Dear and his pride for the Pueblo culture. I would use this book also as a resource for students to use as research. This would be a great supplement for learning native american history.
